RSL Active

RSL Victoria has joined forces with the Victorian State Government to create a robust and extensive program to provide events and activities for the younger veteran community.

The Victorian Government is investing $400,000 to commence the new program that will be operated by RSL Victoria and its local community Sub-Branches.

RSL Active will offer a myriad of events and activities, aimed to create and develop social networks, enhance support circles, and improve mental and physical health outcomes. Outdoor activities will include programs such as learning to surf, nature walks and kayaking, adaptive sports programs in addition to wellness, fitness and exercise programs. RSL Active will also run a series of workshops at RSL Sub-Branches around Victoria covering topics such as mindfulness, managing finances and transition to employment.

To inform the rollout of RSL Active, the Geelong RSL Sub-Branch has successfully completed a pilot program in 2016.

MINDFULNESS SESSION

2pm - 3pm.
Camberwell RSL, 403 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell

Held on the first Tuesday of very month at Camberwell RSL.
Meditation is a simple technique based on the breath and posture which aids general health and wellbeing. Incorporating mindfulness and awareness, meditation is a practice that gradually - and at each individual’s own pace - helps us to face and come to terms with past and present experiences and emotions that we may have closed down or pushed aside.  Meditation helps lessen anxiety and stress and helps us to deal with our fears in a more constructive way.
