Key Timings for Media on ANZAC Day

  • 4:00am-4:15am: Onsite vehicle access via Birdwood Ave/Legacy Garden (by prior arrangement only)
  • 4:30am-5:30am: Media arrivals (major network vehicle bump-in evening prior to or by 4:15am)
  • 5:30am-6:30am: Dawn Service
  • 9:00am-12:00pm: ANZAC Day March
  • Commemorative Service: commencing at conclusion of ANZAC Day March

Dawn Service Media Zone Guidelines

Foot access to the Dawn Service Media Zone (Northwest lawn) will be via the Eastern steps accessed via the Birdwood Avenue side.

Vehicle access is only by prior approval. Refer to the application form below.

During the Dawn Service media must stay within the Media Zone and must not traverse the terrace area, nor move around or make sounds once the service commences.

Camera lights or flash photography is not allowed during the Dawn Service. There will be sufficient light from the lectern to capture the faces of speakers

Please note that drones are not permitted to be flown onsite at any time.

Commemorative March Media Zone

The starting point for the Commemoration March is the corner of Swanston Street and Flinders Street. The March route is along St Kilda Road and up to the Shrine of Remembrance. Media are welcome to cover all elements of the March on ANZAC Day.

Commemorative Service Media Zone

Media with Dawn Service accreditation will be permitted access to the Media Zone for the Commemorative Service. The Commemorative Service occurs immediately after the March concludes. Entry to the media zone to cover the Commemorative Service is between 10:15am and 10:30am approximately.

Media are not permitted on the concrete area or lower grass mounds between or in front of the Media Zone during the service.
