RSL Victoria welcomes Victorian Government investment in veteran wellbeing

RSL Victoria has welcomed a $500,000 funding boost to veteran wellbeing as the veteran community grapples with the ongoing Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

The additional funding was announced by the Victorian Government on Monday, February 14, and will support veterans and their families to access a range of activities, including equine therapy, family days and networking events. Funds will also provide two additional full-time Veteran Liaison Officers at Melbourne Legacy.

RSL Victoria State President, Dr Robert Webster OAM, said "While many of us within the veteran community campaigned for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, we must not forget that it also represents a challenging time. Any boost in government funding that can help ex-service organisations support the wellbeing of our veteran community during this time is most welcomed."

To access services and support like those available from Melbourne Legacy and other ex-service organisations, veterans and their families can contact Veteran Central on 1300 645 838.
