Where To Play Two-up On Anzac Day In Victoria

Two-up has become a long-standing ANZAC Day tradition. Here’s where you can play in Victoria.

WHAT IS TWO-UP?

A game of Two-up has become a long-standing ANZAC Day tradition.

It goes as far back as the 1800s and was once played during Australia’s gold mining days. The game travelled overseas with our World War I soldiers and was played during downtime on the battlefield. When they returned, Two-up came with them and is now enjoyed across RSLs, and pubs on ANZAC Day.

Two-up has now become embedded in Australia’s memorial traditions honouring our servicemen and women.

Two-up is only legally allowed to be played on ANZAC Day.

HOW TO PLAY

The aim of the game is to correctly guess how two coins will land after they’re flipped by the “spinner”.

Two coins are placed on a “kip” or paddle and are tossed into the air.

Bets are placed on whether the flipped coins will fall on both heads, both tails, or one head and one tail inside the ring.

The winner pockets the cash they bet, as well as the money bet by their competitor.
