Mildura RSL Sub-Branch charting volunteer numbers

National Volunteer Week (NVW) was held 19-25 May 2025, with this annual event once again recognising the efforts of volunteers across the country. The theme of NVW 2025 was “Connecting Communities,” highlighting the numerous benefits of volunteering for so many who participate.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the RSL in Victoria, and perform numerous roles across the organisation, including running commemorative services, raising funds, managing Sub-Branches and providing support and services to veterans and their families.
During NVW 2025, reporting revealed that of all RSL Sub-Branches in Victoria, it was Mildura RSL Sub-Branch that had recorded the highest number of volunteers in the first half of the year.
Although larger Sub-Branches logged higher total volunteer hours, Mildura RSL Sub-Branch ranked first in number of volunteers, with 83 individuals selflessly raising their hand to help support veterans and their families.
This remarkable achievement was recognised by the Sunraysia Daily, with the paper commending Mildura RSL Sub-Branch and its local volunteers for their tireless work, including raising more than $40,000 for the ANZAC and Poppy Appeals in 2024.
In total, more than 300,000 hours were recorded by RSL volunteers across Victoria during 2024, demonstrating the incredible time and dedication spent by hundreds of individuals across our network.
However, this remarkable total represents only a portion of the RSL’s volunteering efforts, with hundreds of unrecorded volunteer hours unable to be included.
RSL Victoria urges Sub-Branches to call on their volunteer base to log their hours and ensure their hard work is truly reflected in volunteer reporting.
RSL Victoria commends Mildura RSL Sub-Branch on achieving record participation figures. This data is a great example of the achievements that can be made by a committed volunteer team consistently logging their hours.
