RSL Victoria Statement on Pascoe Vale RSL Sub-Branch

December 11, 2025

RSL Victoria today announced the conditional sale of the land, buildings and business of Pascoe Vale RSL Sub-Branch to Melbourne Racing Club (MRC).

Subject to approval from authorities, the outcome will see MRC take over the operation of the hospitality venue and provides the option for Pascoe Vale RSL members to continue the work of a Sub-Branch in its traditional home.

The venue will continue under their regular Christmas/New Year operating hours through this period.

During the process of the sale, it was RSL Victoria’s priority to act in the best interest of local veterans, with a strong desire to see the venue operations continue with a new owner.
That has occurred, with the sale of the premises providing revenue that will further support Victorian veterans, along with the continuation of a local business that employs more than 20 staff.

RSL Victoria and MRC will work together to satisfy the sale conditions as soon as possible.

Memorabilia and military artifacts located at the Sub-Branch are not part of the sale, but some items may be displayed within the facility in the future pending member wishes.

Local Sub-Branches will continue to provide commemoration, welfare and support to veterans in the region during this period.

President of Pascoe Vale RSL Sub-Branch Brian McNaughton said that a lot of hard work had gone into finding a venue operator that wanted to continue the operations of the local community club and provide an option for members to continue the work of a Sub-Branch.

“We are encouraged by today’s announcement.”

“It had become increasingly difficult for our Sub-Branch to operate a venue of this size.

“The outcome of the sale is the best possible option for the local community.

“The venue will continue, staff will continue to be employed, and we have an avenue to preserve the history of the Sub-Branch, while providing a path for a future if the members wish to continue.”

Pascoe Vale RSL Sub-Branch members will meet over the next few months to decide whether they take up the option of continuing the veteran support work of the Sub-Branch within the facility.

RSL Victoria Acting CEO Jack Crawford said that the sale of the premises was a great outcome.

“Our priority is supporting veterans and families across Victoria, and this offer was clearly the one with the best outcome for veterans, staff and the local community.”

“Subject to approval from the respective authorities, proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in greater support for veterans and their families.”

“This outcome also affords the chance for the Pascoe Vale RSL Sub-Branch members to continue their community connection and support for fellow veterans if they wish.”

“Melbourne Racing Club’s purchase will also see employment and social connection at the venue continue, which is reassuring for the local community.”
