2026 ANZAC Appeal launch at the MCG
AFL stars Isaac Quaynor and Jye Caldwell joined ANZAC Appeal ambassador and veteran Marcus McEwen to launch the 2026 ANZAC Appeal at the MCG ahead of the traditional ANZAC Day AFL match between Essendon and Collingwood.
McEwen, who will be part of the motorcade of veterans at the MCG on ANZAC Day, spoke to Quaynor and Caldwell about his 12 years’ service in the Navy and the difficulties he encountered when transitioning to civilian life.
With the help and connection of the RSL, McEwen was able to deal with significant mental health issues related to service and has gone on to forge a successful post-service career.
Now through his role as President of the Lara RSL he assists veterans, conceiving the Kokoda Memorial Challenge which raised more than $60,000 for the ANZAC Appeal that will go towards a pilot program for veteran career transition operated by RSL Victoria.
Quaynor and Caldwell modelled their clubs’ ANZAC Day guernseys for 2026, proceeds from the sale of which will go towards the ANZAC Appeal.
Together they urged footy fans around Australia to get involved in the AFL’s ANZAC Appeal Round, with donations to the Appeal funding support programs for veterans and their families in the state in which the donation is made.
Last year more than $4.7 million was raised during the ANZAC Appeal.
