Peter Tinley elected new RSL Australia President
RSL Victoria today congratulated Mr Peter Tinley AM on his election as RSL Australia president.
“Peter is an outstanding person to be leading the RSL in Australia with a range of diverse skills that will help advance the veteran cause,” said RSL Victoria State President Dr Mark Schröffel.
“I have known Peter since our defence careers crossed over, and he brings a thorough understanding of service and post-service life.”
“Since then, his time in Western Australian parliament, including four years as Veterans Issues minister, has given him the perfect experience to navigate the policy and politics which affect veterans every day.”
“Peter represents a new generation of leadership for the RSL nationally that is in alignment with RSL Victoria’s organisational transformation.
“Prior to the election we communicated with our Sub-Branches that Peter was, in our opinion, the best candidate for the role.”
“I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with Peter and his RSL Australia team over the coming years.”
Peter Tinley AM spent 25 years in the Australian Defence Force, from private soldier to Major, with 17 of those years spent in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS).
He was elected as the Member for Willagee in the Western Australian Parliament in 2009, retiring ahead of the 2025 election.
From 2017 to 2021 he held the ministerial portfolios of Veterans Issues, Housing, Fisheries and Asian Engagement.
