RSL welcomes new DVSC Commissioner
Along with RSL Australia, RSL Victoria welcomes the appointment of Penny McKay as the inaugural Commissioner of the Defence and Veterans’ Service Commission (DVSC).
This is a historic milestone for Australia’s veteran community in the implementation of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
“The appointment of Penny McKay as Australia’s inaugural DVSC Commissioner is a moment of genuine significance for every serving and ex-serving member and their families. Penny McKay has already demonstrated her commitment to this work as Acting Commissioner, and RSL Australia looks forward to continuing to work closely with her and the Commission to drive the systemic reform our veteran community deserves,” RSL Australia National President Peter Tinley AM said.
The DVSC operates independently of Government, backed by significant evidence-gathering powers, and is tasked with driving systemic reform across the Defence and veteran ecosystem, including holding Government accountable for implementing Royal Commission recommendations.
