RSL Victoria Pledges Continued Support for Veterans and their Families During Challenging Times

September 13, 2024

RSL Victoria stands by all veterans and their families impacted by the Brereton Report’s findings and recent outcomes. As an ex-service organisation our primary focus and priority is work that supports the health and wellbeing of veterans and their families.

RSL Victoria understands that recent developments from the Brereton Report investigation have a profound impact on many within our community, and our thoughts are with all veterans and their families who are affected by the findings and outcomes of this inquiry.

As we navigate the ongoing impact of the recently concluded Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, we recognise this as a particularly challenging time for the entire Defence and ex-service community. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that the wellbeing of this community remains at the forefront of our efforts.

RSL Victoria will continue to support all current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members, providing access to welfare, advocacy, and mental health services. We also remain engaged in key issues affecting ex-service people and are committed to advocating for better outcomes on their behalf.

We encourage any veteran or family member in need of support to reach out to our Veteran & Family Services team via 1800 MILVET (1800 645 838), Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. For 24-hour mental health support, please contact Open Arms on 1800 011 046, or dial 000 for urgent assistance.

RSL Victoria

First established in 1916, RSL Victoria’s primary objectives are to provide support to veterans and their families, acknowledge Australian Defence Force service and perpetuate its patriotic duty whilst encouraging conversation and mateship between those who have served and their communities. A crucial role of the RSL is also to appropriately commemorate those who have suffered and died in service of our nation or its allies.
